The Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of a 32-year-old sex worker, Riyanatu Musa, for allegedly stabbing a barman, Yohanna Musa, to death during a violent altercation.

The shocking incident occurred on the 7th of January, 2025, in Mubi South Local Government Area. According to reports, the tragic conflict stemmed from an unpaid N200 balance for liquor borrowed by the suspect.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect, Riyanatu Musa, had obtained dry gin brands commonly referred to as “Big Benz” and “Yahoo” from the deceased, promising to settle the debt later. While she reportedly paid N1,500, a disagreement ensued over the remaining N200, leading to a heated argument. The quarrel tragically escalated when the suspect allegedly stabbed Yohanna Musa in the chest, fatally wounding him.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that the dispute over the balance sparked the deadly altercation. The weapon, a knife, was recovered by the police at the scene of the incident.

Reacting to the incident, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, condemned the act and reiterated the need for peaceful conflict resolution. He stated:
“Taking the law into one’s hands is not only unlawful but also highly condemnable. This tragic event is a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of unchecked tempers and impulsive actions. I have directed a thorough and discreet investigation into this case to ensure justice is served.”

The Commissioner also urged the public to avoid resorting to violence in disputes and to report issues to the appropriate authorities for resolution.

The suspect remains in police custody, and further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
