“Uphold Integrity: AIG Fayoade Warns Newly Promoted Officers Against Extortion”

The Vanguard Newspaper, via its official X handle, reported a stern directive from the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, to newly promoted officers. Addressing them during a decoration ceremony, AIG Fayoade cautioned against abusing their ranks by extorting money from the public.

The ceremony, held at the conference hall of the zonal command, celebrated the promotion of 33 officers to the ranks of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chief Superintendent of Police, and Superintendent of Police. These officers were drawn from the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands.

AIG Fayoade emphasized that their promotion is not merely a reward but a significant call to duty. He charged them to remain committed to the core values of professionalism, integrity, and service to the people.

“Your promotion comes with greater responsibility. You must ensure that the lives and properties of Nigerians within your jurisdiction are protected. This is not an opportunity to misuse your position or collect money forcefully from the public. Instead, let your actions reflect the trust reposed in you,” AIG Fayoade stated.

He reminded the officers that the badge of honor they wear symbolizes trust and dedication to safeguarding the nation. He urged them to lead by example, build stronger relationships with the communities they serve, and enforce the law without fear or favor.

The event also witnessed the presence of senior officers, stakeholders, and family members who cheered on the newly decorated officers. AIG Fayoade’s address resonated as a clarion call to uphold the reputation of the Nigerian Police Force amidst growing public scrutiny.

With a renewed mandate, the officers pledged to execute their duties with diligence and uphold the dignity of their new ranks. AIG Fayoade’s charge serves as a timely reminder of the police’s role as protectors of public trust and not perpetrators of abuse.

As the officers return to their jurisdictions, expectations remain high that they will translate this call to duty into actions that enhance public confidence in the Nigerian Police Force.
