The Department of State Services (DSS) has officially dismissed circulating rumors about an ongoing recruitment exercise within the agency. In a public announcement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the DSS urged Nigerians to disregard any purported notices claiming that the agency is hiring.
The statement reads: “This is to draw the attention of the general public to kindly disregard any notice of recruitment in the DSS, please.”

The agency emphasized that such claims are entirely false and are likely the work of fraudsters aiming to exploit unsuspecting members of the public. It further reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency in its operations, stating that any legitimate recruitment exercises would be announced through official and credible channels.
The DSS also advised citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities related to these fraudulent notices. “We urge the public not to fall victim to these scams and to verify any information concerning recruitment directly with the agency,” the statement concluded.
The announcement underscores the DSS’s proactive efforts in combating misinformation and protecting citizens from being deceived by unscrupulous individuals.
