The Benue State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has received a significant boost in its operational capacity, thanks to the intervention of the state’s Executive Governor. In a move aimed at enhancing security across the state, the governor presented six operational Hilux vehicles and 20 motorcycles to the NSCDC.

This development was proudly announced through the Corps’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle, signaling a renewed commitment to tackling security challenges in Benue State.
The Commandant of the Benue NSCDC, in his remarks during the handover ceremony, lauded the governor’s proactive leadership and his dedication to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state. “This generous donation will strengthen our patrol capabilities and improve our response time in addressing security threats across rural and urban areas,” he said.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, while presenting the vehicles and motorcycles, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in their quest to restore peace and stability. He urged the NSCDC to utilize the resources effectively and work collaboratively with other security stakeholders to curb crime in the state.
The donation comes at a critical time when Benue State faces multiple security challenges, including farmer-herder clashes, banditry, and communal conflicts. With these additional resources, the NSCDC is expected to intensify its operations and enhance its presence in vulnerable communities.
Residents of Benue have expressed optimism about the gesture, with many commending the governor for prioritizing security and equipping the NSCDC with the tools needed to carry out their duties effectively.
This strategic move underscores the governor’s understanding of the critical role of security in fostering socio-economic development and ensuring public confidence in government institutions.
The partnership between the Benue State Government and the NSCDC highlights a blueprint for other states grappling with security concerns, demonstrating that collaboration and resource provision are key to creating a safer environment for all.
