“Adamawa State Police Command Debunks Misleading Reports: Commends Officers for Foiling Robbery Attempt”PRESS RELEASE: ADAMAWA STATE POLICE COMMAND

The Adamawa State Police Command has set the record straight regarding misleading reports circulating on social media about an alleged mechanical fault saving the Governor’s convoy from armed robbers. In a statement issued by the Command, the story was described as not only misleading but also lacking accuracy and professionalism.

The actual incident occurred on December 19, 2024, when the advance security vehicle of the Adamawa State Governor’s convoy, while returning from an official trip to Taraba State, encountered a roadblock set up by local robbers. As per standard operational procedures for VIP movements, the advance security team was ahead of the main convoy.

Upon arrival at the scene, the officers observed that the roadblock had forced commuters to halt their journey, with vehicles lined up along the road. Demonstrating exceptional courage and professionalism, the gallant officers in the advance security team promptly sprang into action. They successfully dispersed the robbers, cleared the obstruction, and ensured the safe passage of all motorists in the area, including the Governor’s convoy.

Commending the officers for their bravery and swift response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, Psc (+), praised their dedication to duty. He noted that their actions not only neutralized the threat but also exemplified the commitment of the Adamawa State Police Command to safeguarding lives and property.

CP Dankombo further cautioned social media users and bloggers against spreading unverified information, emphasizing the importance of factual and accurate reporting. “Fake news undermines public confidence and can create unnecessary panic. I urge social media handlers to verify their information before dissemination,” he stated.

The Command also expressed gratitude to journalists within and beyond the state for their continuous support in sensitizing and educating the public on peacekeeping efforts.

The Adamawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and called on the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information.
