The Adamawa State Police Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has ramped up its fight against the notorious Shilla gangsters, announcing significant progress in its latest operation. The command made the revelation through its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, detailing a robust offensive aimed at tackling violent crimes in the northern zone of the state.
On December 3, 2024, the coordinated operation extended its reach to Mubi North and Mubi South local government areas. Security operatives successfully dismantled a network of criminal activities connecting the two localities, marking a decisive step in restoring peace to the region.
The joint task force, comprising officers from the Mubi North and South Police Divisions and other security agencies, apprehended four suspects believed to be members of the Shilla gang. These suspects were caught with offensive weapons and have been identified as:
1. Adamu Halidu (22 years), resident of Yelwa, Mubi North.
2. Ahmed Ibrahim (23 years), resident of Lukuwa Ward, Mubi North.
3. Sa’adu Haruna (24 years), resident of Tashan Gyela, Mubi South.
4. Ahmed Haruna (23 years), resident of Nasarawo, Mubi South.
The operation, which showcased the commitment and synergy between the police and allied agencies, has disrupted criminal networks responsible for terrorizing residents in these areas.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, Psc (+), lauded the collaborative efforts of the task force. He reiterated the command’s resolve to eradicate violent crime in Adamawa State, instructing investigators to conduct a thorough probe and ensure the diligent prosecution of the suspects.
“Our mandate is clear: to stem the tide of violent crime and uphold peace and security across the state. These arrests send a strong message to criminal elements that their activities will not be tolerated,” CP Morris emphasized.
Residents of Mubi North and South have expressed relief over the intensified efforts, with many lauding the police for prioritizing community safety.
