Adamawa Police Command Foils Gun-Running Operation, Arrests Suspect with Cache of Ammunition, Intensifies Efforts to Secure State During Yuletide Season

In a decisive move to bolster security across Adamawa State, the Police Command has intensified operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks ahead of the festive yuletide and ongoing harvest season. The Command’s proactive measures, which include visibility policing, strategic stop-and-search checkpoints, and raids on suspected criminal hideouts, have begun yielding remarkable results.

In a statement issued on December 3, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, announced the arrest of a 34-year-old man, Sunday Moses, a resident of Kwatau village in the Hong Local Government Area. Moses was apprehended for alleged gun-running and illegal importation of ammunition into the state.

The breakthrough operation, which commenced on December 1, 2024, resulted in the recovery of a substantial cache of weaponry, including:

193 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition

171 rounds of 9x19mm pistol ammunition

Two hand grenades

The arrest followed a series of raids conducted in key areas such as the state capital, Song, Gombi, and Hong Local Government Areas. These coordinated efforts effectively dislodged several criminal hideouts, thwarting potential threats and denying criminal elements the chance to regroup.

Expressing his gratitude for the unwavering support from the public, CP Dankombo Morris commended residents for their vigilance and timely provision of information. “Our renewed action plan is producing tangible results, and with the continued cooperation of the public, we will ensure lasting peace and security across Adamawa State,” he affirmed.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, emphasized the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the festive season. He urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency, stressing that collective effort is key to sustaining the state’s security.

The Adamawa State Police Command reassured the public of its readiness to provide a safe and secure environment throughout the yuletide period and beyond. The Command remains resolute in its mission to prevent crime, safeguard lives and property, and ensure that the state remains an inhospitable terrain for criminal activities.

This development serves as a clear warning to individuals engaging in unlawful activities: the Adamawa State Police Command is on high alert, and there will be no safe haven for criminal elements.
