IPOB Denounces Fraudulent Biafra Declaration: A Strong Warning to Impostors

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a resounding disavowal of a recent purported declaration of a Biafran Republic, branding it as an act of fraud. Taking to its official X handle, Punch Newspaper reported IPOB’s emphatic stance, which firmly rejects any association with what the group described as an “infamous no-name group.”

In a statement signed by IPOB’s leadership, the organization reiterated its unwavering allegiance to the historical declaration of the Biafran Republic by Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in 1967. “The noble family of IPOB, led by our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wishes to disassociate itself from the purported Biafra second declaration. This so-called declaration is a scam orchestrated by individuals with ulterior motives,” the statement declared.

The IPOB leadership emphasized that there is no legitimacy or mandate for any faction to unilaterally declare a new Biafran Republic. The group maintained that its struggle for self-determination is rooted in legitimate principles and is conducted under the auspices of its recognized leadership.

“This attempt to usurp the historical significance of Ojukwu’s declaration is both disrespectful and misleading. IPOB remains committed to the ideals of the original Biafran struggle, which our eternal leader Ojukwu valiantly championed. Any other so-called declaration is baseless and does not represent the aspirations of the Biafran people,” the statement added.

declaration is baseless and does not represent the aspirations of the Biafran people,” the statement added.

IPOB further called on its supporters and the general public to remain vigilant and to reject any initiatives that could derail the group’s cause or sow discord within its ranks. “Our focus remains on peaceful self-determination through dialogue and international advocacy,” it concluded.

This decisive rebuttal from IPOB serves as a warning to impostors seeking to exploit the group’s legacy. It also reaffirms IPOB’s unwavering commitment to its foundational principles and the historical vision of Biafra.
