The Federal Ministry of Education, through its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, has announced the highly anticipated TETFund National Research Fair & Exhibition 2024. Scheduled to take place from November 18 to 21, 2024, at the iconic Eagle Square in Abuja, this groundbreaking event promises to redefine Nigeria’s future through the power of research and innovation.

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Education, lauded the fair as a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s journey toward sustainable development. “This event is a call to action for our academic and research institutions to tackle pressing national challenges,” Dr. Alausa declared, emphasizing that Nigeria’s vast intellectual and natural resources must be harnessed to fuel sustainable growth. The initiative is deeply aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The fair is designed to foster collaborations among academia, government, and the private sector, driving innovation in healthcare, agriculture, and energy. With a monumental ₦5 billion investment approved by President Tinubu under TETFund’s National Research Fund, the event will spotlight groundbreaking research capable of transforming these critical sectors.

“This event marks a significant step toward transforming Nigeria into a knowledge-driven economy,” Dr. Alausa asserted. He also urged the media to provide widespread coverage, ensuring robust nationwide participation. The fair not only showcases the nation’s potential but also sets the stage for a future where research and innovation drive economic transformation.

Engr. Umar Bindir, Chairman of the local organizing committee, stressed the importance of collaboration among ministries, research institutions, and the private sector. Key stakeholders, including NASENI, SMEDAN, financial institutions, and intellectual property bodies, are actively engaged to ensure that the innovations showcased are sustainable and impactful.

“We are consulting widely to create a synergy that will propel Nigeria into an era of sustained innovation,” Engr. Bindir said, highlighting the fair’s commitment to creating solutions that resonate across sectors.

Engr. Bindir declared the fair a turning point for Nigeria’s economic trajectory. “Soon, we’ll witness Nigerian-made products replacing imports, ensuring economic growth through sustained local production,” he said, envisioning a future where local ingenuity drives global competitiveness.
