“VDM Urges Minister Wike: Halt Demolitions, Consider the Lives of Displaced Families in FCT”

Prominent social commentator and activist, Very Dark Man (VDM), has issued a fervent appeal to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, urging him to reconsider the mass demolitions that have left thousands of vulnerable families homeless. VDM called on Wike to prioritize compassion and humanity in his policies, highlighting the severe consequences of these forced evictions on already struggling communities.

“Dear Nyesom Wike, this is pure wickedness and utterly inhumane,” VDM stated passionately in his address. “Forcibly displacing over 10,000 people, using gunfire to intimidate and scatter them, has left women and children without shelter, security, or hope. In a time when even the affluent are feeling the pressures of an economic downturn, driving these people from their homes is heart-wrenching.”

VDM went on to describe the grim scenes of families scattered, injured, and left without basic needs. “Imagine the despair of fathers and brothers left with gunshot wounds, the terror on the faces of mothers and children as they watch their homes crumble. This is not fair. If you continue these demolitions without any plan for relocation or compensation, it risks fueling resentment and could ultimately contribute to the rise of insecurity, extremism, and insurgency within Abuja.”

In his message, VDM painted a powerful image of the desperation now gripping these communities. “People are struggling to make ends meet; many can barely afford food. Now, with no roof over their heads, they are left to sleep in the cold. No bed, no home, nothing but the night sky over them,” he continued. “Minister Wike, I implore you to halt these demolitions immediately. At the very least, provide a humane solution—create alternative housing, relocate these families, and offer compensation. If your goal is to transform the FCT, there are ways to achieve it without depriving the poorest of their homes and dignity.”

VDM concluded with a warning that resonates with the growing concerns of many Nigerians: “The displacement of these vulnerable families, left to fend for themselves in desperate circumstances, could have dire implications for security in the FCT. Please, act with empathy. Give these families the dignity they deserve and prevent the further erosion of trust in the government’s duty to protect all citizens.”

As pressure mounts on Minister Wike to address these concerns, VDM’s impassioned plea has sparked widespread discussion across social media, with many calling on the government to adopt more humane approaches to urban renewal and development.
