In a bold stride towards advancing Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has signed five landmark bills into law, setting the foundation for a prosperous and resilient future. Sharing this milestone on his official X handle, Fintiri emphasized the importance of these laws, which aim to enhance water sanitation, healthcare, education, and professional standards across multiple sectors.

“Today, I have signed five critical bills into law, moving us closer to a more prosperous and resilient Adamawa State,” Fintiri announced, underscoring his commitment to raising the quality of life and services for all residents. These legislative advancements mark a transformative period for Adamawa, with targeted improvements in essential services, regulatory frameworks, and institutional infrastructure.
New Laws for a New Adamawa:
Adamawa State Water Supply and Sanitation Hygiene Services Law 2024:
This comprehensive law redefines water sanitation and hygiene standards by establishing an inclusive framework involving the Adamawa State Water Services Regulatory Commission, private sector participants, service providers, and the Adamawa State Water Corporation. This law aims to ensure every household has access to clean and reliable water, enhancing public health and sanitation across the state.
Adamawa State Health Supplies Management Agency Law 2024:
Replacing the outdated 1996 Essential Drugs Programme Edict, this law creates a centralized Health Supplies Management Agency responsible for ensuring that essential drugs and medical supplies are available and accessible across the state. This reform is expected to streamline healthcare logistics, reduce shortages, and enhance patient care in both urban and rural areas.
Teachers Service Commission Law 2024:
With education as a pillar of progress, this law establishes the Adamawa State Teachers’ Service Commission to regulate and support teaching professionals. It aims to uplift the education sector by enhancing teacher training, recruitment, and professional development, ultimately driving educational excellence across Adamawa.
Adamawa State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Ganye Law 2024:
This law repeals the former 2016 legislation governing the Adamawa State College of Agriculture Ganye and expands the institution’s scope to include science and technology. This strategic move aligns the college’s curriculum with modern industry needs, preparing students for careers that contribute directly to the state’s agricultural and technological growth.
Adamawa State College of Nursing Sciences Law 2024:
Aimed at raising healthcare standards, this law replaces the 2017 College of Nursing and Midwifery Act. By updating the college’s curriculum and operational standards, it aims to produce a new generation of highly skilled nurses and midwives who will play a vital role in delivering quality healthcare across Adamawa.
Governor Fintiri concluded by calling on all stakeholders to fully engage in the implementation of these laws. “Together, we build a stronger Adamawa!” he stated, encouraging cooperation from agencies, educators, healthcare providers, and community leaders in realizing the positive impacts these laws promise.
As these transformative policies take root, Adamawa State stands poised for significant progress, with a government determined to foster sustainable development and uplift its people.
