The Adamawa State Police Command has taken swift action in response to the tragic herders-farmers clash that erupted in Waltandi, Song Local Government Area. On October 27, 2024, this violent incident led to the loss of lives and extensive property destruction, leaving the community shaken and families in mourning.
In a statement released on the Command’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC(+), has directed the Homicide Division of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Yola to take over the investigation. The CP has tasked the team with a thorough, detailed, and urgent inquiry into the circumstances leading up to the clash, ensuring that every angle is explored to uncover the truth behind this tragedy.
CP Morris, visibly moved by the devastating impact of the clash, extended his deepest sympathies to the affected families and the people of Song LGA. He assured the public that the Police Command stands with the community in this painful time, reinforcing the state’s commitment to peace, safety, and swift justice.
To restore order and prevent further escalation, the Commissioner has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Waltandi and surrounding areas. This enhanced security presence aims to not only protect residents but also to aid the investigation by creating a secure environment for gathering information and making necessary arrests.
“The perpetrators of this violent act will face the full weight of the law,” CP Morris affirmed. “We will not rest until those responsible are brought to justice, and peace is restored to the good people of Song Local Government.”
