The Adamawa State Police Command has officially commenced an investigation into allegations circulating in the media about the unlawful arrest and extortion of innocent individuals, primarily Fulani herdsmen, by vigilante members at the Song Cattle Market.
In a statement released on its official X handle, the Command reassured the public that it is taking the matter seriously. Commissioner of Police (CP) Dankombo Morris, Psc (+), emphasized the Command’s unwavering commitment to upholding justice and eradicating corrupt practices, stating that extortion and any unlawful acts are unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“Our Command remains committed to ensuring the safety, peace, and well-being of the people of Adamawa State. We will not condone any actions that disrupt public peace or infringe on the rights of our citizens. Rest assured, any person or group found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” said CP Morris.
The Commissioner further urged victims, or those with information regarding the alleged incidents, to come forward and assist in the investigation. He assured the public that the Adamawa State Police Command is fully dedicated to conducting a thorough inquiry and ensuring that justice is served.
In closing, the Command called on the public to remain calm, assuring them that the Police are working diligently to maintain peace and justice within the state.
