Earlier today, the governor convened a crucial meeting with public school principals and head teachers at the Jolly Nyame Stadium’s Gym Hall in Jalingo. The gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress of his administration’s ambitious educational reforms and lay out plans for further improvements.
During the meeting, Governor Kefas made several groundbreaking announcements aimed at addressing key challenges within the educational system. Notably, he pledged to settle all outstanding salary arrears of teachers by December 2024, a long-awaited relief for educators who have been burdened by delayed payments. In addition, the governor committed to reviewing the running costs of schools, signaling potential increases in funding to enhance the overall learning environment.
In response to concerns raised regarding teacher promotions, Governor Kefas revealed that he has directed the state’s Ministry of Education to establish a dedicated committee to thoroughly assess the issue and provide concrete recommendations. Underscoring the government’s commitment to student welfare, the governor announced the availability of over 100,000 school uniforms, bags, sandals, and other essential learning materials, which are set for immediate distribution to students.
