Adamawa State Government Enforces Certificate Verification for Civil Servants, Sets October Deadline

In a bold move aimed at restoring integrity within the state’s civil service, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has issued a sweeping directive requiring all government workers across institutions, ministries, boards, and agencies to submit their certificates immediately. The announcement, made via the state government’s official X handle, underscores Governor Fintiri’s commitment to purging the system of unqualified personnel and ensuring opportunities are not denied to deserving young professionals.

“This exercise is not intended to witch-hunt anyone but rather to ensure sanity in the system,” the Governor clarified, addressing concerns that the initiative might be politically motivated. He further emphasized that the objective is to foster an environment of merit and transparency, where only qualified individuals occupy positions of responsibility.

Governor Fintiri’s directive comes with a firm warning: any employee who fails to present their certificates by the end of October will forfeit their October salary. However, in a reassuring tone, he added, “No one will be denied their salary if they present their certificates before the end of October.”

The Governor’s action is driven by growing concerns that some individuals have exploited loopholes in the system to wrongfully secure government positions. “These issues must be addressed, and the service should be a haven for scholarship and honesty, rather than a haven for misfits,” Fintiri stated, underlining the need for a complete overhaul of the civil service to uphold standards of competence and integrity.

This verification process signals the government’s determination to root out systemic failures and safeguard the state’s institutions from further exploitation.
