In anticipation of the upcoming 64th Independence Day celebration on October 1st, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rolled out a comprehensive security strategy to guarantee a safe and festive atmosphere for all residents.
The Command’s proactive approach includes the deployment of highly trained personnel and state-of-the-art equipment throughout the FCT to prevent potential disruptions and maintain order. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the security blueprint encompasses the deployment of Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) teams, anti-riot squads, and enhanced visibility policing in key areas.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, diversions will be implemented in high-traffic zones such as the Central Area and Eagle Square, where large gatherings are expected. The police urge residents to cooperate with traffic personnel and adhere to the safety protocols put in place for a smooth celebration.
SP Adeh also emphasized the importance of public vigilance, encouraging residents to report any suspicious movements or activities without delay. The Command has made available several emergency contact numbers to facilitate swift communication:
