Sisters Scammed in Land Purchase, Await Justice Since 2019

The Berekete Family show has recently shed light on a troubling case of land fraud, leaving two sisters stranded without either land or a refund for over four years. In a post shared on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle, they highlighted the plight of these women, whose dreams of building a house for their mother in their hometown turned into a nightmare.

In a heartbreaking revelation, one of the sisters detailed how she and her sibling had entrusted their brother with the task of helping them secure land in the village. Their brother, in turn, introduced them to a friend supposedly involved in the land business. Eager to begin their project, the sisters paid ₦250,000 upfront, with the balance of ₦300,000 paid later, totaling ₦550,000 for the land.

However, the situation took a devastating turn when the sisters visited the site, only to discover another person had begun developing the land they had paid for. When confronted, the seller assured them that the issue would be resolved, offering an alternative plot of land. But since 2019, the sisters have neither received the promised land nor had their money refunded, despite persistent efforts to contact the seller and settle the matter.

This case, now drawing public attention through the Berekete Family platform, serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in land transactions, particularly in areas with little regulatory oversight. The victims continue to hope for justice and restitution, but their struggle highlights the growing need for stronger consumer protection in real estate dealings.

This ongoing saga of deceit has sparked outrage online, with many urging authorities to step in and investigate. Will justice finally prevail, or will these sisters remain victims of a broken system?
