In a heartfelt message, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the recent tragic incidents that have rocked Zamfara State, leaving the nation mourning. Through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President shared his condolences on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
In the statement, President Tinubu extended his sympathies to the people and Government of Zamfara State following two heartbreaking disasters. Over the weekend, more than 40 farmers tragically lost their lives in a devastating boat accident as they made their way to their farms in Gummi Local Government Area. Simultaneously, severe floods ravaged the same community, wreaking further havoc and deepening the sorrow of the people.
The President, standing in solidarity with the grieving community, assured the victims of his unwavering support. “The entire nation grieves alongside Zamfara State in this time of sorrow,” Tinubu stated. He reiterated that the Federal Government would leave no stone unturned in its response to these dual calamities.
In a decisive move, President Tinubu directed the country’s emergency agencies to swiftly and thoroughly assess the incidents, identifying their root causes and implementing preventive measures to avoid future occurrences. He further instructed these agencies to collaborate closely with the Zamfara State Government, ensuring that the affected families and individuals receive the necessary assistance and support.
“Our hearts go out to the families of the victims,” President Tinubu said, emphasizing that the Federal Government stands ready to provide immediate relief and long-term solutions. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing such disasters with urgency, offering both material and emotional support to the grieving community.
The President’s timely response reflects his administration’s resolve to prioritize the welfare of citizens in the wake of tragedies, fostering resilience and hope amid the challenges faced by communities across Nigeria.
