Nigerian Army Shatters Terrorist Strongholds, Rescues Kidnapped Students in Coordinated Strikes

In a series of high-impact military operations, the Nigerian Army has successfully dismantled terrorist strongholds, rescued kidnapped students, and seized significant caches of weapons. These decisive strikes are a testament to the army’s relentless pursuit of peace and security in the face of insurgency.

On September 12, 2024, acting on credible intelligence, Nigerian troops launched a meticulously coordinated operation in Kaduna State to liberate hostages held in extremist camps. In a fierce battle at Chigbolu Village, Kachia Local Government Area, the troops overwhelmed the terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandon their captives. Thirteen individuals—six males and seven females—were successfully rescued from the grips of their abductors.

The victory extended beyond the rescue, as the troops seized a substantial amount of weaponry, including one AK-47 rifle, 87 rounds of 7.63mm ammunition, four magazines, a locally-made rifle, and ₦192,220.00 in cash. Further searches revealed additional supplies, including five solar panels, five mobile phones, dry rations, and clothing, all likely intended for the insurgents. The rescued victims are now receiving medical attention at the 1 Division Medical Services and Hospital in Kaduna.

In another critical operation within the same region, the army apprehended two notorious terrorist logistics suppliers, Mallam Usman Waikili and Salisu Idris, in Kagarko Village, Kachia Local Government Area. The suspects were caught with ₦1,306,700.00, multiple SIM cards, mobile phones, national identity cards, and a trove of financial devices, including ATM cards, POS machines, and an MTN MiFi—all suspected to be tools aiding terrorist operations.

Meanwhile, in Suleja, Niger State, another major offensive saw troops storming a terrorist hideout, resulting in a fierce gunfight. The superior firepower of the army neutralized three terrorists, while three more suspects—identified as Mallam Halalu, Mallam Suleiman, and Mr. Musa—were captured alive. These suspects led the troops to a hidden armory, where three AK-47 rifles, 121 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and ₦4,079,000.00 in cash were recovered.

These highly successful operations underscore the Nigerian Army’s unwavering dedication to eradicating terrorism and safeguarding the lives of innocent civilians. The Chief of Army Staff commended the gallant troops for their bravery and urged them to sustain the momentum across all operational theatres.

The Nigerian Army continues to demonstrate its commitment to national security, assuring the public that efforts to dismantle terrorist networks will persist until peace is fully restored.
