The Chairman of Girei Local Government Council, Hon. Adamu Umaru Dallatu, has called on the legislative arm, directors, departmental heads, and staff to work in synergy with the newly appointed Secretary and Supervisory Councilors to ensure the council’s success. His remarks were made during the swearing-in ceremony, which took place this week at the Girei Local Government Secretariat.

During the event, Hon. Dallatu praised the “Fresh Air” Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, describing him as a man of peace and a visionary leader. He commended the governor for granting local government councils the autonomy to operate freely, even before the Federal Government officially granted autonomy.
In his address, Dallatu emphasized the probationary nature of the appointments, stating, “Although your appointments are based on merit, let me remind you that they are probationary. Your performance, dedication, and loyalty will be assessed after one year. Those who excel will continue to serve, while those who fall short will be replaced with more competent individuals.”

The Chairman also expressed his delight at the appointment of Alhaji Zubabiru Iya Abubakar, the General Manager of Adamawa Press Limited, by Governor Fintiri. He further called on the people of Girei Local Government to support the current administration, stressing that it is only through unity that they can fully benefit from the dividends of democracy.
In separate remarks, the member representing Girei Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi, and the PDP Chairman of Girei Local Government, Hon. Mohammad Njidda Tukur, urged the newly appointed officials to lead with integrity and operate an open-door policy. They also prayed for peace and continued development in Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included the General Manager of Adamawa Press Limited, Alhaji Zubabiru Iya Abubakar; the Board Chairman of Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, Hon. Micheal Musa; the Vice Chairperson of Ganye Local Government; the District Head of Girei, Alhaji Ibrahim Mustafa; and Dan Galadima Girei, Alhaji Abdurahman Raji.

The newly appointed officials who took the oath of office include Hon. Arabo Hamma as Secretary of the council, along with Supervisory Councilors Hon. Adamu B. Tela, Hon. Fancy Terison, Hon. Lawal, Hon. Thomas Erimea, Hon. Halilu Hamman Joda, a former board member of APL, and Hon. Bashiru Aminu, appointed as a Special Adviser.
