The Adamawa State Police Command has taken to it’s official X handle and announced the arrest of a 49-year-old herbalist, Suleiman Manzo, also known as Suleiman Makeri, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 22-year-old female patient who sought traditional treatment at his residence in Mallam Nura ward, Numan town.

According to the victim, the horrific incident occurred after she had been staying at the herbalist’s residence for nearly a week, hoping to receive traditional medication. She revealed that Suleiman Manzo administered an intoxicating substance that rendered her unconscious, during which the alleged assault took place. The victim’s account paints a disturbing picture of betrayal and abuse at the hands of a man she trusted to heal her.
In his statement, the accused admitted to administering herbs that induced vomiting in the victim, along with applying an intoxicating scent, which he claims was part of the treatment. However, these actions have now placed him at the center of a serious criminal investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankwambo, PSC(+), has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation. The Commissioner assured the public that upon completion of the investigation, the suspect would face charges in court.
CP Dankwambo also took the opportunity to warn the public to be vigilant against individuals posing as traditional healers, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities to the police. He emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals from those who exploit trust under the guise of traditional medicine.
The arrest of Suleiman Manzo underscores the Adamawa State Police Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for victims of sexual assault and safeguarding the community from predatory practices.
