Adamawa State Police Debunks Beheading Rumors, Intensifies Security Measures Around Hotels

The Adamawa State Police Command has taken to it’s official X handle and swiftly moved to quash rumors circulating on social media about the alleged beheading of two students from the Federal College of Education, Yola. In an official press release dated September 2, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, firmly dismissed these claims as baseless, urging the public to disregard the misleading information spread by mischief-makers.

CP Morris expressed his deep concern over the circulation of such fake news, which he emphasized was intended to create unnecessary panic and disrupt the peace within the community. “The allegations of beheading are entirely false and have no basis in reality,” he stated, calling on the public to remain calm and avoid falling victim to fearmongering.

To reinforce the state’s security, CP Morris has deployed the Command’s operational assets around hotels and accommodation facilities across Adamawa State. These measures are designed to ensure continuous surveillance, prevent criminal activities, and coordinate swift responses to any distress calls. “Our goal is to maintain a safe and secure environment for all residents and visitors,” the CP asserted.

In line with this commitment, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations has been tasked with overseeing the strategic deployment of officers and resources around these key locations. The heightened security presence is expected to deter any potential threats and reinforce the public’s confidence in the state’s safety measures.

CP Morris also issued a stern warning to social media bloggers and individuals who spread false information, urging them to refrain from actions that could endanger public peace. “We will not tolerate any attempts to incite fear or disrupt the harmony of our communities,” he warned, adding that those who engage in such activities would be held accountable under the law.

The press release, signed by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer, underscores the Adamawa State Police Command’s unwavering dedication to maintaining order and protecting the lives and property of its citizens.
