“Governor Eno Champions Soldiers’ Welfare with Groundbreaking AHOOAS Project in Akwa Ibom”

In a significant boost to the welfare of Nigerian soldiers, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, has ceremonially laid the foundation for the groundbreaking Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS) project. The event, which took place in Nsit Atai – Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to enhance the living conditions of military personnel.

The Nigerian Army announced this milestone on its official X handle, highlighting the project’s importance. Governor Eno, represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Akwa Ibom State, Uko Udom (SAN), praised the Nigerian Army’s leadership for its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel. He expressed his pride in being part of such a transformative initiative and commended the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, for his relentlessdedication to ensuring that soldiers have access to decent living conditions and the opportunity to own their homes.

Governor Eno emphasized that the AHOOAS project is not just about housing but is also a critical factor in boosting the morale and well-being of the troops. According to him, a well-housed military force is essential for maintaining strength and effectiveness, and this project represents a significant step in that direction.

In his remarks, Lieutenant General Lagbaja reiterated the project’s importance as a cornerstone of his broader strategy to elevate the quality of life for Nigerian Army personnel. He expressed deep gratitude to the Akwa Ibom State Government for its robust support and collaboration, which has been instrumental in bringing this ambitious project to life. The COAS underscored that the groundbreaking ceremony symbolizes a crucial advancement in the Army’s efforts to provide affordable, high-quality, and secure housing options for soldiers,complete with discounted prices and flexible payment plans tailored to their service needs.

Earlier in the ceremony, Major General Joseph Omali, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Post-Service Housing Development Limited (PHDL), elaborated on the AHOOAS project’s vital role in addressing the housing needs of soldiers. He noted that this initiative aligns perfectly with the Nigerian Army’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of its personnel. Major General Omali also extended his gratitude to both the COAS and the Akwa Ibom State Government for their unwavering support in making this vision a reality.

The ceremony was marked by the symbolic laying of the foundation stone, extensive photographic documentation, and a vibrant presentation by an indigenous cultural group, adding a rich cultural dimension to this historic event.
