In a decisive blow to the operational capabilities of Boko Haram and ISWAP, troops of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have apprehended key operatives responsible for supplying vital resources to these terrorist groups in the Lake Chad Region. This significant counter-terrorism success was announced by renowned security analyst and counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, via his official X handle.

The operation, which underscores the MNJTF’s relentless efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, resulted in the capture of two high-profile operatives. These individuals were instrumental in funneling illicit drugs and materials for sewing uniforms and flags used by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters. The arrests signal a critical disruption in the supply chains that have long sustained these extremist groups.
One of the operatives, identified as Yahaya Muhammad, was apprehended along the Kekeno-Cross Kauwa Road. His arrest revealed a disturbing cache of illicit substances, including Metro, Doxycycline, Discloppxac, and 198 wraps of Indian hemp. Additional seized contraband included Kpomix, Coldtime, Nopami, Coughter, Nexcape sachets, Ostanac, and a variety of other drugs. Muhammad, who is not a licensed pharmacist, was found to be deeply embedded in the logistics network that supports the terrorist operations.

In a separate but equally impactful operation, another operative was intercepted along the Gubio-Damasak Road. This suspect was driving a blue Toyota Pickup Vehicle with registration JAK 49 XA (YOBE), which contained two sacks filled with 19 bundles of clothing material. These materials were intended for the production of uniforms and flags for Boko Haram and ISWAP combatants, highlighting the organized and resourceful nature of these terrorist networks.

Further showcasing the MNJTF’s effectiveness, troops successfully rescued three women and a baby, suspected to be the family members of terrorists. The rescued individuals claimed they had escaped from terrorist enclaves in Jubillaram, located on the southern Lake Chad Island within Marte Local Government Area. They are currently undergoing medical assessment and profiling to ensure their safety and well-being.
This operation marks a significant stride in the ongoing battle against terrorism in the Lake Chad Region. By targeting and dismantling the logistics and supply networks of these extremist groups, the MNJTF is not only crippling their operational capacity but also rescuing innocent lives from the clutches of terror. The success of this mission stands as a testament to the MNJTF’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.
