Arc Ahmed Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, recently took to his official social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), to reiterate the unwavering commitment of all agencies, institutions, and parastatals under his ministry to the “Renewed Hope Agenda” championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. He emphasized that these bodies must diligently fulfill their responsibilities to achieve the goals for which they were established, particularly in the housing sector.

One of the key steps in this direction was the recent inauguration of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON). Presiding over the ceremony, Dangiwa underscored the critical role that estate surveyors and valuers play in the nation’s pursuit of affordable housing solutions. He highlighted that their expertise ensures that land and property valuations are accurate and reflective of fair market values, which is essential for developing cost-effective housing options across Nigeria.
The inauguration of the new ESVARBON board was necessitated by the expiration of the terms of several members, which had resulted in a shortage of active participants. This shortfall prevented the Board from meeting the quorum of eleven members required by the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Act, First Schedule, Section 4. The reconstituted Board, a twenty-two-member professional body established under Decree No. 24 of 1975, is now better positioned to fulfill its mandate of overseeing the profession of Estate Surveying and Valuation in Nigeria.

In his charge to the newly inaugurated Board, Dangiwa urged them to promote excellence in estate surveying and valuation, uphold the integrity of the profession, and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing. He also emphasized the importance of advancing the interests of both members of the profession and the public, as these efforts are crucial for the successful delivery of affordable housing nationwide.
With this renewed mandate, the ESVARBON board is set to play a pivotal role in ensuring that Nigeria’s housing policies are implemented with the highest standards of professionalism and ethics, thereby contributing to the broader national development goals under President Tinubu’s administration.
