In a shocking turn of events, the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), commonly known as the ‘Shi’ite’ group, launched a brutal and unprovoked assault on officers of the Nigeria Police Force at Wuse Junction, Abuja, leaving a trail of bloodshed and chaos in its wake.
Renowned security analyst and counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama broke the grim news on his official social media X handle, revealing the extent of the carnage. The attack, which took place near the traffic lights at Wuse Junction, resulted in the tragic deaths of two police officers and left three others unconscious, now fighting for their lives in the hospital. The brazen assault also saw three police patrol vehicles torched, with the attackers wielding an arsenal of weapons, including machetes, knives, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) crafted from bottles filled with kerosene.
In the aftermath of the attack, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth C. Igweh, expressed his outrage and condemned the heinous act. “This unprovoked attack on our officers will not go unpunished,” CP Igweh vowed, assuring the public that those responsible would be brought to justice. The Commissioner also confirmed that several arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and that law enforcement authorities are working tirelessly to ensure that normalcy is restored.
The situation in Wuse has been brought under control, and the FCT police command has urged residents to remain calm and vigilant. Further updates on this developing story will be provided as more information becomes available.
The police have reassured the public that they remain committed to maintaining peace and order in the FCT, and any attempts to undermine security will be met with the full force of the law.
