Peter Obi’s Grassroots Mobilization Blasts Tinubu Over $670 Million Contract to Son’s Company, Calls for Impeachment Amidst Allegations of Nepotism

The Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilization group has fiercely condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of a $670 million contract awarded to Hitech, a company exclusively owned by his son, Seyi Tinubu. In a fiery statement on its official social media platform, X, the group accused the President of engaging in blatant nepotism and corruption, asserting that this act is a glaring conflict of national interest and an egregious abuse of presidential power.

The group did not mince words, describing the contract approval as an affront to the principles of good governance and a clear indication of the rot within the current administration. “This kind of unchecked nepotism,” the group stated, “is precisely why Nigeria continues to struggle with transparency and accountability at the highest levels of government.”

Furthermore, the Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilization group called on the National Assembly to take immediate action, suggesting that such an abuse of power warrants swift impeachment proceedings against President Tinubu. However, the group expressed little hope for such a resolution under the current leadership, highlighting that as long as Godswill Akpabio remains Senate President, the likelihood of holding the President accountable is slim.

The statement has sparked widespread discussion, with many echoing concerns over the perceived erosion of democratic values and the entrenchment of cronyism in Nigeria’s political landscape. The group’s bold stance underscores the growing discontent among sections of the populace who are increasingly frustrated by what they see as the prioritization of personal interests over national welfare.
