The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has called on Nigerians to actively participate in World Breastfeeding Week 2024. In a recent post on its official social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), NAFDAC emphasized the importance of organizing or joining events that promote and support breastfeeding within communities.

With hashtags like #WorldBreastfeedingWeek, #2024WBWNg, #WBW2024, #WABA, #ClosingTheGap, and #NigeriaBreastfeedingRecord, NAFDAC is rallying citizens to unite in spreading awareness about the critical role breastfeeding plays in child health and development. The agency also highlighted the significance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child’s life, advocating for the campaign #StopWaterInFirst6Months to educate mothers about the risks associated with introducing water too early.
As World Breastfeeding Week 2024 approaches, NAFDAC’s message is clear: communities must come together to close the gap in breastfeeding education and support, ensuring that every Nigerian child gets the best start in life.
