In a strategic effort to enhance national security through the power of social media, the Nigerian Army, under the auspices of the Department of Civil-Military Affairs, recently held its 35th Social Media Seminar. Themed “Harnessing Social Media for National Security,” the event took place at the prestigious Honorable Justice Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center in Minna, Niger State, drawing participants from various sectors, including military personnel, social media influencers, bloggers, and security experts.

The seminar, a significant milestone in the Army’s ongoing efforts to engage with the civil populace, was graced by Major General Markus Kangye, who served as the Special Guest of Honor. In his keynote address, Major General Kangye underscored the pivotal role that responsible social media use plays in safeguarding national security. He highlighted the perils of misinformation and disinformation, urging social media influencers to rise to the occasion as peace ambassadors.
