JAMB Issues Firm Directive to Institutions on Undisclosed Admissions Outside CAPS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a critical clarification regarding the disclosure of candidates admitted outside the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) from 2017 to date. In an official announcement shared on its social media X platform, JAMB addressed the influx of candidates visiting its offices, driven by concerns over the status of their admissions. However, the Board emphasized that the responsibility for these disclosures lies squarely with the institutions, not the candidates.

JAMB stated, “While we appreciate the enthusiasm, we must correct the misconception that the focus is on candidates’ actions. The true emphasis lies with the institutions, which must disclose all candidates admitted outside CAPS before the August 31st, 2024 deadline.”

The directive from JAMB is clear and uncompromising: institutions must review their records and ensure full compliance with the disclosure requirement. Failure to do so will result in severe consequences, as JAMB will not entertain or condone any undisclosed admissions going forward. Candidates are also reminded not to accept admissions that are processed outside of CAPS.

The Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, reiterated that candidates whose admissions have not been disclosed by their institutions will not be recognized or processed by JAMB. This firm stance underscores the Board’s commitment to maintaining transparency and integrity in the admissions process.

As the deadline approaches, institutions are urged to act swiftly and decisively to avoid any punitive actions from JAMB.
