Adamawa Police Command Arrests 22-Year-Old for the Gruesome Kidnapping and Murder of 8-Year-Old Cousin

The Adamawa State Police Command has via their official social media X channel, announced the arrest of a 22-year-old man, Muhammed Mustapha, who is accused of kidnapping and murdering his 8-year-old cousin, Muhammed Auwal, also known as Khalifa. The harrowing incident occurred on July 25, 2024, in Madina Ward, Mubi North Local Government Area.

According to the police, Mustapha, who hails from Madina in Mubi North, allegedly kidnapped young Khalifa and held him in a secluded location, demanding a ransom of 2.8 million Naira from the family. Tragically, the situation took a fatal turn when Mustapha, under the influence of an intoxicating substance, strangled the innocent boy to death.

The suspect was apprehended on July 27, 2024, by the Detective Officers of the State Intelligence Department (SID) after a report was made by the victim’s father, Harris Muhammed, who is also the suspect’s uncle. Mustapha has since voluntarily confessed to the heinous crime, attributing his actions to the influence of the intoxicating substance he consumed.

In response to this shocking crime, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has assured the public of a diligent and thorough prosecution. He also urged citizens to continue providing timely information to the police to help prevent such tragic incidents in the future.

The Adamawa State Police Command remains committed to ensuring justice for the young victim and his grieving family.
