Nigerian Police Go on High Alert: Immediate Recall of Personnel, Alcohol Ban Enforced Ahead of #EndBadGovernance Protests

In a decisive move to maintain order, the Nigeria Police Force has ramped up its preparations for the impending #EndBadGovernance protests, issuing stringent directives to all officers and personnel.

According to a police wireless message issued in July 2024, all officers and personnel currently on leave are required to resume duty immediately, as all forms of leave have been suspended. This directive underscores the seriousness with which the force is treating the upcoming protests.

The memo from the Police Department of Operations in Abuja specifies that all personnel must don camouflage, while Police Mobile Force (PMF) units are instructed to wear black with denim trousers. Only those officers who are both trained and deemed trustworthy will be deployed for protest operations, ensuring a disciplined and reliable presence.

In a bid to ensure maximum alertness and discipline, the consumption of alcohol has been strictly prohibited for all personnel. Officers have been reminded to take full responsibility for their actions, emphasizing accountability across the board.

“Excess arms and ammunition are to be relocated to state headquarters armouries. All personnel are confined to barracks and must remain vigilant at all times,” the directive stated. The memo further stressed that any lapses in duty will not be tolerated and will result in strict consequences, highlighting the mandatory nature of compliance.

This order takes effect immediately, reflecting the urgency and gravity of the situation as the nation braces for the #EndBadGovernance protests. The Nigerian Police Force is clearly leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to ensure security and maintain public order during this critical period.
