Kano State to Implement New N70,000 Minimum Wage: Governor Abba Yusuf’s Bold Move for Economic Growth

In a landmark announcement, His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State revealed that the state will adopt the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage. The declaration was made via his official social media platform, X, underscoring the administration’s commitment to economic development and worker welfare.

Governor Yusuf stated, “Following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of a new national minimum wage, I have inaugurated the Kano State Advisory Committee on the New National Minimum Wage to ensure the effective implementation of the N70,000 wage as agreed with organized labour.”

The Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, conducted the inauguration on the Governor’s behalf, emphasizing the committee’s role in crafting a strategic plan for this significant wage adjustment. Governor Yusuf assured all state workers that this initiative is a top priority, promising that the new minimum wage will catalyze development across all sectors in Kano State.

“The welfare of our workers is paramount,” the Governor affirmed. “The implementation of the new minimum wage will drive Kano State’s growth, enhancing productivity and fostering economic stability.”

The committee, tasked with delivering a comprehensive plan within three weeks, is headed by Alhaji Usman Bala Muhammad, the Governor’s Special Adviser on State Affairs and former Head of the Kano State Civil Service. The committee’s diverse and experienced membership includes:
