APC State Chairmen Mobilize Counter-Rallies to Defend Tinubu’s Government Against #EndBadGovernance Protests

In a bold declaration of support, All Progressives Congress (APC) state chairmen from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have vowed to protect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration from attempts to destabilize it through protests. At a press conference held on Monday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, Chairman of the Cross River State chapter and Secretary of the APC States Chairmen Forum, alongside his colleagues, revealed that the planned 10-day #EndBadGovernance protest aims to undermine Tinubu’s government.

Eba emphasized that while peaceful protests are a constitutional right, any violent demonstrations would be counterproductive and detrimental to national stability. “We will not sit idly by and let undemocratic forces undermine the government we worked tirelessly to elect,” he declared, underscoring the chairmen’s commitment to maintaining order and supporting the administration.

To counter the protests, the chairmen announced a series of solidarity rallies scheduled from July 29 to August 11, 2024. These rallies, which will be organized by all party structures from the ward level to the national level, aim to highlight President Tinubu’s commendable projects and programs. “For the next two weeks, starting from Monday, July 29, all structures of our party across all political wards, LGAs, state capitals, and Abuja FCT will embark on peaceful rallies to re-echo the laudable projects and programs of President Tinubu,” Eba stated.

The rallies are intended to showcase the administration’s achievements and counter any actions that could disrupt governance or incite unrest. Eba warned that recent security reports indicate that the planned protests could be hijacked by unpatriotic individuals to perpetrate violence and criminality, reminiscent of the 2020 EndSARS protests and recent events in Kenya.

“The APC state chairmen stand united in defense of our democracy and the mandate given to President Tinubu by the Nigerian people. Allowing such a scenario would be a disservice to the Nigerian people who entrusted us with this mandate,” Eba concluded, urging party members and supporters to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding the nation’s stability.
