The National Joint Tax Board has applauded the Adamawa State Government for making governance quite appealing and revealing under the present harsh economic realities and competing demands.
The Secretary of the Board, Olusegun Adesokan who was at Government House Yola when he led a team of Tax Administration Experts while they were in the state on a regional training for tax administrators said, the Fintiri government has exhibited much prudence and efficiency in the management and utilization of resources meant for the people.
He described Fintiri’s administration as an epitome of discipline and efficiency in governance owing to government’s proper utilization of taxpayers’ money.
In a statement signed by the Chief press Secretary to the governor, Humashi Wonosikou, the Leader of the delegation was reported to have said that the infrastructure development achieved by the administration is a testament to good governance.
The Secretary who further intimated that the Joint Tax Board was in Adamawa for its regional training on tax business to ensure effective and efficient tax collection stressed the importance of leveraging technology to improve tax collection, with a focus on progressive taxation where the poor, pay less and the rich and large corporate organizations are taxed more.
He urged the Adamawa State Government, through its Internal Revenue Board to continue on the trajectory towards better development and economic growth.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos, expressed government’s gratitude for the collaboration that has been working for it over the years.
While commending the Board for taking training and technology seriously, the Governor emphasized that beyond collection, they must tackle corruption and minimize loopholes in tax business.
During the training, Participants were drilled in the areas of Tax Audit, enforcement and compliance.
