The Governor of Kano State recently announced on his official social media handle, formerly known as Twitter, a significant stride towards enhancing food security in the state. “In our bid to bolster food security in Kano, I had the pleasure of flagging off the distribution of 52,800 free bags of NPK fertilizer to smallholder farmers across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State,” he shared.

This initiative, valued at 1 billion naira, features fertilizer produced by the state-owned Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO). The distribution aligns with the Governor’s campaign promise to improve livelihoods through strategic investment in agribusiness.

Furthermore, the Kano State Executive Council has approved the procurement of over five billion naira worth of fertilizer, which will soon be available to farmers at a subsidized rate. The Governor emphasized, “Our government is committed to sustaining food production through the regular supply of fertilizer from KASCO. We are strengthening KASCO and other state manufacturing centers to revitalize revenue flow and sustain the state’s economy.

This landmark initiative underscores the Kano State government’s unwavering dedication to agricultural development and economic revitalization, promising a brighter and more prosperous future for its farmers and residents.
