In a dramatic turn of events, the Nigerian Police in Adamawa State have dismantled a sophisticated theft syndicate involving high-ranking personnel from the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and local militia members. The operation, which culminated in the arrest of eight suspects, has unveiled a shocking breach of public trust.
The police, acting on a critical tip-off, moved swiftly to intercept the criminal activity at a warehouse in Limawa Ward, Yola North Local Government Area. The swift action led to the apprehension of three ADSEMA officials and five militia members, aged between 22 and 53, just hours after they had executed their illicit plan. A significant haul of 98 bags of maize, millet, and guinea corn was recovered during the operation, underscoring the scale of the theft.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command’s spokesperson, lauded the police team for their exemplary response. “Upon receiving credible intelligence, our officers acted with precision, preventing a significant loss of valuable food supplies meant for the community,” he stated.
Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris praised the professionalism and diligence of his officers, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration in combating crime. “This operation highlights our commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Adamawa State’s citizens. We urge the public to continue providing vital information on criminal activities,” he said.
The arrests have sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about the integrity of those entrusted with public resources. As investigations continue, the police remain resolute in their mission to root out corruption and ensure justice is served.
