IPOB Warns South-East Governors: Use Sambisa Forest for Grazing, Not Our Lands

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have issued a stern warning to South-East governors against allocating lands to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) for grazing reserves. In a statement released on Saturday by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group expressed grave concerns about the potential dangers posed by such allocations.

IPOB asserts that granting lands for grazing reserves, under the guise of the RUGA initiative, would severely compromise the safety and security of the South-East populace. The group calls on governors from the Southern and Middle Belt regions to firmly reject Miyetti Allah’s requests, questioning why the Fulani, who claim Nigerian nationality, seek lands outside their ancestral domains.

In its pointed message, IPOB warns that any governor who accedes to MACBAN’s demands risks exposing future generations to the perils of mass slaughter and displacement. The group categorically rejects the covert RUGA initiative proposed by the Livestock Ministry, suggesting instead that the vast Sambisa Forest would be a more appropriate location for Fulani settlements.

IPOB is unwavering in its resistance to what it describes as Fulani expansionism and remains dedicated to preserving the ancestral lands of the South-East. The organization cautions against any efforts to alter the region’s demographics or seize its territories.

In a clarion call, IPOB urges Southern governors, particularly those in the Eastern states, to safeguard the future of the region by unequivocally rejecting Miyetti Allah’s grazing reserve demands. The South-East, IPOB insists, must remain off-limits to any form of Fulani settlement or grazing reserve.
