Two Female Sex Workers Bound and Defrauded in Enugu Hotel Room

Two female sex workers were recently freed from a hotel room in Enugu where they were discovered bound in a toilet. The incident, captured in a viral video, initially sparked fears of organ harvesting, a disturbing trend that has reportedly been on the rise in Enugu State.

However, the Enugu State Police Command has dismissed these allegations. Preliminary investigations reveal the incident was a case of extortion and fraud. According to DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the command’s spokesperson, the suspects coerced and deceived the victims, demanding money from them.

The police have urged young women to exercise caution and avoid accompanying unknown individuals, especially men, to prevent falling victim to similar criminal schemes.

In a statement titled “Enugu police unravels actual circumstances of the viral video alleging an attempt to harvest the organs of two young ladies in Enugu Hotel,” the command clarified the details of the incident. The victims met the suspects on July 3, 2024, at a hotel along Agbani Road, Enugu. They had a subsequent appointment the following day, during which the crime occurred.

The statement revealed, “Contrary to the misleading narrative, preliminary investigation revealed a case of demanding money with menaces and fraud, not murder or organ harvesting. The ladies, operating as commercial sex workers, were with the young men on July 3, 2024. They met again the next day, and the suspects beat and tied up the girls in the hotel’s room toilet after menacingly demanding and obtaining their phones, account details, and Personal Identification Numbers (PINs).”

The suspects absconded after fraudulently withdrawing ₦120,000 from the victims’ accounts. The police recovered a bag containing two kitchen knives and sportswear left behind by the suspects. An intelligence-guided investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits.

The police have also advised hotel owners and managers to enforce strict security measures and thoroughly screen lodgers. Additionally, young women are cautioned against associating with unknown individuals, particularly men, to avoid falling prey to similar schemes.
