Adamawa Prepares For LG Polls In July.From Stanley Mijah, Yola.

Barely a few months after the dissolution of the leadership of the twenty-one local governments of Adamawa State following the expiration of local government tenure, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri has approved the conduct of a local election in July this year.
As part of the commitment and resolve to ensure the conduct of the electoral event, the State government has inaugurated the State’s Electoral Umpire, the SIEC to prepare earnestly for the state election.

Making this known in a statewide Radio and TV Broadcast in Yola to mark the first Anniversary of his second term in office, the governor said that his administration shall continue to devote sufficient energy, intellect, and resources for security and peace-building as well as infrastructural development to place the state on the petals of development and enviable position.
He said that if his election for the first term was a trust, his second election represents a vote of confidence and an impetus to do more adding that he remains eternally grateful to the Adamawa population for the confidence and the opportunity to further serve.
He saluted the support and understanding of the youths with whom he had engaged at different levels and stressed his administration’s commitment to harness the abundant talent and creativity of Adamawa Youths to entrust them with the future of the state. He attributed the success of his administration in the areas of education and infrastructural development such as roads, bridges, fly-overs, schools, hospitals, housing projects, and many others to the unwavering support and understanding of the Adamawa population.
According to him, Yola is gradually assuming the status of one of the most modern state capitals in the country and a tourist destination as well as a growing choice for hosting conferences and meetings adding that his government shall be doing more through the new superhighway linking the upcoming fly-over at A.A. Lawan junction and ½ cloverleaf fly-over along Yola-Numan road, the 1,000 units Fintiri Housing Estate, the new Shopping Mall, the Stadium and many other projects in the offing.


He said that his government has developed a friendly business environment to attract investors to numerous sectors such as agriculture, mineral resources, tourism, and others.
“We have also implemented several reforms to enhance ease-of-doing-business in the state such as improved efficiency in property registration and sustainability of land-based investment process, the improved regulatory framework for private investment in fiber-optic infrastructure, development of an effective Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) framework, increased transparency of official fees and procedures, and so on.
“I am glad that investors are responding.
A major objective for all our policies, projects, and programs is to fight poverty. The massive infrastructural facilities are also intended to allow you and our investors to engage in profitable economic activities.
“In this regard, we are passionate about education. We believe that addressing Out-of-School Syndrome, providing free education, payment of WAEC and NECO fees for our candidates, building and furnishing new schools, recruiting more teachers and so on that we have been doing will ease the economic burden on parents and equipping our youths with the tools to swim out of poverty.
“Similarly, we are paying special attention to skills acquisition as well as Science and Technology. In this regard, I am happy to announce that we have commenced the process for the construction of three new comprehensive Technical Schools, one in each Senatorial zone. One of these schools is going to be exclusively for girls”, he said.
The governor said that his government will continue to empower the people people of the State especially women and youths, emphasizing that he has directed that in every quarter, 10,000 beneficiaries will be selected and given N50,000 each under the Fintiri Business Wallet Scheme.
