The Parent Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman of the Federal Government College (FGC) Ganye in Adamawa State, Engineer Danjuma Idris Hussaini has condemned unsubstantiated accusations labeled against the management of the college by a parent.
Reacting to allegations of water scarcity, and nonprovisions of books and uniforms circulated on social media by, Abubakar Amina Abdullahi, the PTA Chairman described the allegations as baseless.
According to the chairman, there was no iota of truth in the claims that the institution was suffering under an acute shortage of water in the college and failure of the authorities to supply uniforms, and books to the students upon completion of payment of their fees.

He said that more disturbing is the claim that the students had to take their meals without beef since the beginning of this session and the alleged refusal to execute the borehole contract awarded by the Federal Government but decided to use the one provided by Chiroma of Ganye Chiefdom.
Our correspondent reports that the allegations have gone viral on social media and attracted comments generated among some Facebook and ‘X’ formerly (Twitter) users.
Some of the users have condemned the informal action taken by the supposed parent who attributed his source to “my son”.

Our correspondent who contacted Abubakar Amina Abdullahi via his/her Facebook messenger account to know the source of his information said that his child was his informant and some of the Principal’s loyalists. He also said, ” I decided to use social media because I complained severally to the PTA chairman but nothing was done about it”.
The PTA Chairman further called on the parent to provide evidence of his claim and wondered why such a parent could not connect to the WhatsApp PTA platform which was created for all the parents to channel their complaints via it for necessary action. He also maintained that those who could not have access to the platform were asked to reach out to him at any time for any issue relating to their children’s welfare cum academics in the college.

The chairman bemoaned and wondered “Why a responsible and peace-loving parent can relish exhibiting such unethical acts without contacting the relevant authorities in charge of the college management through the Parent Teachers Association(PTA)?
The PTA chairman told our correspondent via phone call that the shortage of water in the college is a nationwide phenomenon in the wake of the present power failure emphasizing that the boreholes in the college can only function if there is electricity. Despite the continuous blackout, the PTA chairman commended the leadership of the college for their astute administration which turned things around by making sure that the water was supplied to the students and the entire college despite the multifaceted daunting challenges faced by the school in recent times.

On the issue of non-provision of books and uniforms to the students who pay their school fees, the chairman said that it was a case of some staff settling some scores with the principal because of his hard position over his refusal to tolerate some staff who take advantage of their status to default in payment of school fees for their children.
Also responding to the allegations when contacted by our correspondent, the principal of the college, Mr. Joseph Adamu said that he is not surprised by the allegations circulated by the phony parent on social media, describing the allegations as frivolous and baseless.
According to him, if Abubakar Amina Abdullahi is saying that no beef for students from the beginning of this session, what he doesn’t understand is, what is the wisdom in slaughtering a cow for the students and it got rotten in the freezer because of the incessant blackout experienced for the past few months, and if you cook rotten meat for students they will say that you went and bought rotten meat in the market not knowing that is a cow that you slaughter but because no storage facility, that is why you have issues.
On the issue of the principal refusing to work with the local contractors, Mr. Joseph pointed out that there are pre-qualifications, and that nobody will go and call a contractor who has never handled a job for you. He further maintains that most of the contractors recommended are those who have done their best for the school, and they are chosen because they can always give their best.
Also on the awarded borehole contract by the federal government, the principal said that the college already has boreholes among which the one dug by Chiroma of the Ganye chiefdom Abdullahi Bashir Haske has enough water, but it is saddening to note that the solar panels and the other equipment which were installed with the borehole and without which the borehole will not function were stolen and some were vandalized and it was rendered useless. So the leadership of the college felt it was not wise to dig another borehole since the college already had the existing borehole that had enough water, so instead of digging a new one which they were not sure of getting enough water like the other one, they decided to revitalize the existing dysfunctional borehole.
He described the allegations as the evil machinations of the enemies of progress.
In the same vein, The PTA chairman who enjoined the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of FGC Ganye “not to dance this macabre dance which the supposed parent Abubakar Amina Abdullahi is chief choreographer”, warned, “against the dangers attached to his parochial actions on social media which will not yield any positive result. He further advises the supposed parent to come out from the cocoon of lackey-dom and his extinct illusionary way of thinking and embrace the present reality of the country’s woes.
