A one-day workshop on vulnerabilities to changes in the water system of conflict-affected communities in Adamawa state Nigeria was organized by the International Water Management Institute, (IWMI).in collaboration with the World Food Programme {WFP) and Initiative On Fragility, Conflict and Migration.

The workshop was held at MaduguRockview Hotel Yola within the week.
While answering questions from the Journalists a researcher and lecturer from Modibbo Adama University Dr. Ahmadu Abubakar Tafda also a resource person at the workshop identified the lack of robust data as a problem that hinders the effective supply of water to the vulnerable people in Adamawa state.
He said “Without the effective data there will be no way to address the scarcity of water affecting the people more especially the Internally displaced persons IDPS “
He revealed that because of the Insecurity affecting the North East, there are thousands of IDPS scattered all over the region making access to water very difficult.
While addressing the Journalists the Regional Researcher-Climate Adaptation & Governance IWMI Dr. Okem Andrew Emmanuel, Ph.D. explained that the excess of the workshop is to address the Challenges vulnerable people like the IDPS face in accessing portable drinking water he said” The workshop has brought different stakeholders to discuss and proper lasting solution to the problem”

He noted that at the end of the workshop, there will be a clear and inclusive road map that will address the problem of water supply to vulnerable people.
He called on the general public to cooperate and give their maximum support to the project in other to address the changes confronting water scarcity.
In his response to the Journalists, a staff from the World Food Programme (WFP) George Agwu said ” The intervention by donor agencies has reduced drastically some of the problems affecting the world “
According to him apart from the provision of food to vulnerable people by his organization, they are in partnership with other similar organizations to address the challenge of water in vulnerable communities.
