Federal Government College(FGC) Ganye was created in 1995 by the Federal Ministry of Education as part of the federal government’s policy to meet the educational needs of over 200 million Nigerians. The college has no doubt been thriving in academic excellence and invariably becoming one of the best unity colleges in the North East sub-region.
The institution which had lately assumed the status of the cradle of excellence in the region been captained by various Principals among whom was the pioneer principal of the college, Mr. L.D.W Kwagha who laid the foundation for academic excellence and prosperity of the college.
He was an educationist to the core and a highly respected administrator who committed his intellect, time, and energy to place the college on the petals of greatness and public recognition.
The exit of the pioneer principal was not regrettable because his impressive performance was further reinforced and compensated by the cream of equally dedicated successors who steered the leadership of the college in the past and the present.
These crop of committed successors have in their various capacities stimulated the growth and progress of the college. The history of the institution cannot be written without mentioning the impressive role and performance of the present principal of the college, Mr. Joseph Adamu who took over the mantle of leadership barely two years ago. He has not only demonstrated commitment but exceptional zeal and intelligence to consolidate gains and explore new frontiers and development strategies toward giving the institution an enviable status. He suits the description of a game changer, a pacesetter owing to his ability to execute development initiatives and policies with assistance from the ministry.
Mr. Joseph Adamu’s unwavering commitment to giving the institution a befitting status had thrown even his daring critics off guard and created the desired public sympathy for his leadership and patriotism. With the intervention from the ministry, Mr. Joseph was able to turn the page with his style of administration which welcomes every supporter of reform within and outside the college, to chart a new cause.
Understandably, it was not been easy for him from the beginning to turn things around as he was faced with a torrent of challenges that served as a hindrance to the attainment of his goals. With his administrative prowess and doggedness in steering the school, Even his critics now have good reason to believe that it is not all about being a leader but patriotism and the ability to selflessly carry everybody along is the key to success.
Despite the nonchalant behavior of some of his staff who felt without them his administration would not function, the workaholic had never ceased to pursue diligently the goals of the institution and realized the same.
Findings by the Pioneer revealed that the soft-spoken Principal was indeed a humble and caring personality who was not bothered with his status anywhere he found himself. He has never cared about how great or big people think of him, but he did care about how he will impact positively and leave a lasting legacy as a leader.
Pioneer through its findings further discovered that, with the intervention from the ministry, he was able to initiate and execute some projects which add luster to the ongoing facelift of the college by his administration.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to change the opinion of his adversaries who refused to appreciate the sacrifice and his exerted effort in trying to make the college great.
It is an acceptable fact that the loquacious polemical expectations already within his adversaries are longing to see his downfall. They thought the humble Joseph was busy cornering the funds of the college and refused to give them their share.
Their assumption is a concocted sham and distraction intended to create an unnecessary hurdle to gag the leadership of the college from achieving the greater feat and leaving a lasting legacy.
Our correspondent reports that the renovation of some dilapidated hostels of both female and male students is ongoing, some classroom renovation has been completed while others are in various stages of completion.
He further reported that to give the college a little respite from the scarcity of water, some surface tanks were made available with the help of the ministry. Construction of a strategic culvert in the college has also been concluded to ease communication.
