The North East Governors Forum rose from it’s one day conference with a resolution to tackle the crippling security challenges, economic stagnation and infrastructural decay in the region through well articulated regional cooperation to place the region on the petals of economic prosperity and national growth.
The forum also observed that apart from the overwhelming security challenges facing the region, the member states are the worst hit by environmental disasters and degredation on the nation’s landscape.
In a eleven point communique signed and issued at the end of the regional conference by the Chairman of the Forum, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, the governors reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the security, social and economic integration of the sub region.

The governors resolved that to further demonstrate their commitment and seriousness towards this undertaking, all member states are expected to create ministerial responsibilities on regional integration to foster accelerated development of the area.
The communique attributed the growing tide and unmitigated security challenges and the slow pace of development of the region to poor road network and called on the federal ministry of works to redirect its energy towards rebuilding the road infrastructure to stimulate physical development of the region.
After critical appraisal of the energy situation of the region, the forum resolved to work with Shanghai Electric for the construction of 60 MW Coal Power Plant or 50 MW Solar Power Plant in each State of the region and called for the inclusion of the region into the Nigerian National Railway Transport Plan using the modern guage rail and the National Road plan that the region is conspiciously missing.
The governors further directed member states to ensure the domestication of the the education law 2022 and expressed satisfaction over the readiness of Bauchi state to hold the regional trade fair slated for february 26-March 3, 2024.
