Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has warned against the devastating consequences of the continued brutality and hostilities between the military and the Police on the civil society and the peaceful coexistence of the state.
He has also called for a cease-fire and subtle hostilities between the two Security forces which the public depended so much upon for their security and safety. In a press statement signed and made available to the Pioneer by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Humashi Wonisikou, the governor has allayed the fears of the public against a possible outbreak of violence and urged them to pursue their business interests with ease and confidence.
The governor who described as unfortunate the violent clashes between the two Security forces, appealed for accommodation and tolerance among security agencies especially “at this time of peace building.”
While regretting the ugly incident that led to the clash between the Soldiers and the Police, Governor Fintiri disclosed that Government is on top of the situation and appealed to the parties to exercise restraint in the overall peace of the State.
Governor Fintiri urged all security personnel on special assignments to remain at their duty post and conduct themselves with high sense of maturity.
“I am concerned that such acrimony could have lasting consequences on the hard earned peace we have been able to build over the years.
“I appeal to all security personnel for restraint, mutual respect and tolerance for one another as people destined to work together in this great State. I appeal for patience and understanding as the administration works towards lasting solutions to these conflicts”, he said.
