A young man at a place called Ashakata in Ganye Local Government of Adamawa State has been reported to have stabbed his cousin’s brother with a knife to death after a fisticuffs debacle, caused by the rigorous altercation between the duo over a farmland encroachment. The deceased who according to the eyewitnesses, violently attacked the brother at his sugar cane business place, was enraged after discovering that his cousin while cultivating his earmarked farmland, had gone beyond the boundary.

Pioneer in a brief session with some passers-by who happen to have witnessed the gruesome scenario and are acquaintances of the duo’s, said that the deceased cousin who could not control his temper after the merciless attack from his brother, stabbed his cousin in retaliation with the knife he was using in cutting the sugar cane. The leader of the security operatives met at the scene, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, and he, in toto condemned the barbaric act which has bedeviled the area in recent years. Pioneer learned that, Some years back, in the same area called Ashakata in Ganye Local Government, two brothers of the same family had a similar quarrel over farmland which led to the death of one of them. In his statement, the leader of the security operatives implores the residents of the area not to take the laws into their own hands. He said “We are concerned about this unnecessary and avoidable death of an able-bodied youth. It is disheartening that our citizens no longer have value for the sanctity of life nor the preferred conflict resolution mechanism available in our families, established community traditional leadership, security institutions, and town unions.
