Taraba State Governor, Kefas Raises Alarm Over Invasion From Cameroonian Separatists

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State in the North-East region of Nigeria has raised the alarm over the invasion of separatists from neighbouring Cameroon into the state.

Governor Kefas raised the alarm on Monday when he visited the Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

According to the Governor, for the past few months, the Cameroonian separatists have been threatening his state on the shared boundary with Cameroon.

He said that “The state wants to continue a good relationship with Cameroon for they are doing business and a lot of activities going on in the areas but everyday problems from the Amazonia rebels, so they want the military to look into that and see how they can present the truth.

“Their presence in the state is very heavy and the troops are doing a wonderful job in Taraba State adding that they are playing the role they’re supposed to play and he knows that this is because they have a central command that is effective, efficient and also maintains communication with troops on the ground.”
Governor Kefas told the CDS that the people of Taraba state were open and that in whatever capacity they can assist Nigerian troops to function, they are ready to do that.

He said that the troops had embarked on serious operations to clean up the presence of bandits especially in the ungoverned spaces in the states across the Northern region of the country.

Speaking during the meeting, the CDS assured Governor Kefas that because security is most important in the state, the Armed Forces will do anything possible to tackle any security challenges facing the state, stressing that without security, nothing good would come into the state.

General Musa said that “the challenges they are having are man-made and whenever they want, it will be solved adding that it is about equity, Justice and Oneness”.

According to the CDS, Taraba State is unique as every aspect of the state is highly blessed, both human and mineral resources.
