The executives of Nigerian Labour Unions on Monday evening arrived at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital, for a second meeting to avert the planned strike scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria had resolved to begin an indefinite nationwide strike starting on October 3, 2023.This comes after a joint press briefing held by the leaders of the unions in Abuja last Tuesday.
The labour movement and the government had failed to reach an agreement on the best way to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal and the attendant hardship in the country on Nigerians.
In a video made posted on X by Nigerian Television Authority(NTA), the organised labour leaders were seen in their tens walking into the meeting venue.

“BREAKING NEWS Labour leaders arrive in state house for second leg of meeting over the impending strike,” NTA captioned.
On Sunday, it was reported how representatives of the Nigerian government met with the executives of organised labour at the Presidential Villa on the same cause.
