The police in Rivers State, south-south Nigeria say they have arrested six suspects in connection to the killing of the late Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ahoada Police Division, SP Bako Angbashim.The command in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko, on Sunday, said the arrest was carried out during an operation at Odumude community in the Ahoada East Local Government Area, with the objective of recovering the body of the deceased police officer.The operation was led by the state police commissioner, Nwonyi Emeka.
It noted that a locally-made pistol and various charms were recovered during the operation.
According to Iringe-Koko, the suspects and the confiscated items are currently in police custody
A new DPO, SP Zuokumor Richard, has been assigned to the Ahoada division, she added.
The statement revealed that the new Ahoada DPO was accompanied by half a unit of men from Mopol 48, a one-third unit from Mopol 19, 56, and tactical teams.
It noted that SP Richard had been tasked to thoroughly search the area, apprehend the culprits responsible for the DPO’s death, and recover his body and the location of any weapons used.
