Dr. Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has relaxed the 24-hour-curfew imposed on Karim Lamido town and its environs following critical appraisal of the peaceful realities and convincing outcome of government, and community engagement since the eruption of violence and hostilities between the Karimjo, Wurkum warring communities of Karim Lamido local government of the state.
A statement signed and issued to Journalists by the Chief press secretary to the governor, Yusuf Sanda indicated that the curfew now takes effect from 6 pm to 6 am daily as a result of the relative in the area.
According to the statement, the relaxation of the curfew by twelve hours was precipitated by emerging favorable realities and concerns for a normal social community life by the state government under the responsible leadership of Agbu’s administration.
The persisting violence and hostilities in the area were a product of alleged abuse of power and high-handedness exhibited by the immediate past administration in the appointments of traditional and community leaders which violated the traditions and stipulated procedures during the last hour of the previous government.
It could be recalled that Dr. Agbu Kefas convened an emergency meeting to resolve the crisis in Karim Lamido local government with Security agencies and critical stakeholders on July 4, 2023, where significant provoking decisions and resolutions were reached and communicated to concerned communities.
